Figurative painter from France and born in 1977. Fabrice Martin's painting is based on reality, influenced by expressionnism, he paints portraits and nude figures with oil painting on canvas.
In 2009, he tackled the feminine hairyness taboo signing a paintings series titled " Hairy women "; his work has been pointed out by French medias (lemonde.fr, Ouest-France) and recently by the international TV channel TV5.

when I was over in Europe 20 years ago it was explained to me that "nice" girls didn't shave, only prostitutes. Being from America where all the girls shave, I thought it was really odd. :)

Your art is very pure and realistic, I like !
About shaving or not shaving question it's a bit more complicated, there is even in France a big social pressure on women for shaving.
Now it's clear that porn industry is one of the biggest cause for the actual social norm of shaving.
And unfortunately America has been the first to produce films with shaved actresses the reason I think to the situation that happened to you.
But this is now a worldwide negative influence even in France.

I guess I am a product of American culture, as I can't imagine NOT shaving...and it does feel great to be smooth and sexy. But I also prefer men with less body and facial hair as well. I guess it's all how you perceive things. I just think of it as a personal choice, nothing more. :D
I don't think women should be pressured to shave, certainly not. :)

It's a personnal choice for you to shave and it's a good thing but I know several women who would prefer not shaving and nowadays it's not very possible. When you agree with a social norm you don't realize that it is in fact a social norm of course.
But don't worry I'm not for a world of hairy men or women :) I'm just for a world where each one could choose his body aspect.
(Hope you understand my english because it's not very good :))
